Three Bulls Tavern & Brewery hopes to be the place where community happens in Bloomingdale. Our passion for food, beer and occasion is why we created the Three Bulls concept. We hope to be the perfect neighborhood gathering place where old friends convene and new ones are made. So stop in on your way home from work, the gym or your kid’s little league game! We’ll have the smoker going and we’re pouring beer that was brewed right in your backyard!

In 1985,

Jim and Jeanette Mellody started over and opened the first Beef O’Brady’s. It featured wings of course, but the main thrust of the menu back then was items based on family recipes that were made in-house: homemade meatballs made with fresh herbs; fried cheese smothered with the family red sauce - both made from scratch; stuffed mushrooms stuffed right there in the kitchen. It was a family affair, and we have dearly missed the “mom-n-pop” aspect of the business over the years. We longed to get back to our roots. And longed to simplify.

However, to be able to do that would require us to start over. This was virtually unthinkable at this point in our lives. The practical reasons were many, but more than anything else, it was because Beefs was all that we have ever known. Creating a new concept seemed foreign to us. It took months to even become comfortable with the idea of it. Additionally, we had no clear path to make it happen. And there were more obstacles than we could count.

In 2018,

the stars aligned and fate & destiny crossed paths, paving the way for us to realize our dream. Now it was our turn to start over. It was our turn to build something that had great personal meaning. It was our turn to create a legacy. At this point we’re still not sure if we manifested it, or it was the answer to a silent request that we didn’t even realize we were making. But here we are.

So, as if following some great invisible plan, we found ourselves starting a new chapter in our lives at about the same age that Jim Sr. and Jeanette were when they opened the first Beefs. We know if Jim Sr. were here today, he would tell us we’re crazy. And he’d be right. Only now can we understand how much courage and faith they had and just how fearless (and crazy) you have to be to break away from familiarity and security to do your own thing. We were very unsure during the planning stages. Can we really do this? Will it be successful? Can it live up to everything before it? We lost a good bit of sleep trying to make the decision to go forward or not. We almost bailed on the project a dozen times. The only solace we had is that we were perpetually encouraged by invisible support that gently nudged us forward until we committed to following in Jim’s Sr.’s footsteps. And so we did.

It is with great pleasure that we are now able to offer our friends and neighbors Three Bulls Tavern & Brewery, a place that will embody all our favorite things: Food made from scratch, small batch, hand-crafted beer brewed on premise, a fun atmosphere that reflects our creativity and a place where old friends can convene and new ones can be made. We hope that Three Bulls will be your favorite neighborhood spot!

So stop in to say hello on your way home from work, the gym or your kid’s little league game! We’ll be waiting for ya with the smoker goin’ and a beer that was brewed right in your backyard.
